Any questions about our surfing and paddle surfing courses?
Are there any discounts for groups?
Yes, we have special discounts for large groups. Contact us for rates based on the number of people.
Can I book a package of several classes?
Yes. We offer packages with several surfing or paddleboarding lessons so you can progress more effectively and at a reduced price.
What kind of exercises are done out of the water?
Depending on the session and your level, we'll do exercises like warm-up, mobility, practicing standing on the sand, rowing techniques, and more. These exercises help you improve your technique more quickly.
Can I bring my own board and wetsuit?
Yes. If you prefer to use your own equipment, you can bring it.
However, if you're just starting out and your equipment isn't suitable for your level, we recommend using our boards designed for beginners. Then, once you've gained sufficient skill, you'll be able to use your equipment with complete confidence.
Is it necessary to know how to swim to surf or paddle surf?
Yes. Basic swimming skills are essential, as both surfing and paddleboarding are practiced in the ocean. It's important that you feel comfortable in the water.
If you are not an experienced swimmer, we can adapt the class to safer areas with gentle waves.
Are the instructors certified?
Yes. All of our instructors have the official certifications required to teach surfing or paddleboarding lessons, as well as experience and training in first aid and water rescue. We want you to feel completely safe in our courses.
How much does it cost to rent surf equipment?
What is the ratio of students to instructors?
Our groups are small, with no more than 16 people and a minimum of 2 instructors in each practical surf or paddle surf class. We avoid large groups to ensure the personalised attention and care that define us.
Remember, we also offer private lessons (for individuals or couples).
How can I know what level of surfer I am?
Remember that intermediate can mean anything from one week of experience to 20 years of surfing. So, if you want to be more specific, use the level system from 1 to 4 that we discussed in our article on surfing levels.
What happens if the waves are too small or too big?
The ideal wave size is one that allows you to surf, but not so big that the ocean becomes dangerous.
Suances is fortunate enough to have beaches with different orientations. Punta del Dichoso separates Playa de Los Locos and La TablÃa, which are more exposed to small swells, from the more sheltered Playa de la Concha.
This means we can almost always find a suitable option for every level. It's very rare for there to be no surfable conditions on any given day.
But on the rare occasions when this happens, we'll refund the amount or keep it for later use.
Which beaches are we going to surf on?
The courses are mainly held on the beaches of Los Locos and La Concha.
The former, more open to waves and swells coming from the northwest, is more energetic, while La Concha is generally a friendlier wave that releases its energy gradually and usually provides easier conditions and longer waves.
Playa de la TablÃa is a beautiful, wild beach especially interesting for surfing at low tide. We can also surf at Playa de Tagle and La Ribera, at the mouth of the estuary wall, popularly known as the estuary wave, which is caught at high tide.
What should I wear for surfing in Suances and the Cantabrian Sea?
The waters of the Cantabrian Sea in summer allow you to swim without a wetsuit, but for surfing lessons, it's normal to wear a wetsuit that's three millimeters thick for the body and two millimeters thick for the joints to ensure you don't get cold before the session ends.
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses if I go surfing?
Many surfers wear contact lenses without any problems, although they occasionally lose one. Another option is to use specialized Silver Fish goggles for people who want to surf with glasses.
Can I surf or SUP outside of class hours?
You can surf as much as you like during your stay, although we recommend just one more swim than your daily lesson, at least during the first part of your stay, to prevent overexertion.
What is the minimum age for teenagers?
Can I surf if I'm pregnant?
No. We do not allow pregnant users to surf.
